Campden Park Secondary wins Heritage Club competition

Nolisha Miller and Joelline Matthews, both of the Campden Park Secondary School, walked

away as winners of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Community College’s Heritage Club third annual Local History Competition for Secondary Schools.{{more}}

Elated about their victory, they made time to share a few words with SEARCHLIGHT. “We prepared for the competition extremely well, we had long nights and few hours of sleep. We feel great about our victory, we have gained a lot and will use the experience in the future,” said the winners.

The competition, which was held last Thursday at the Methodist Church Hall, saw a total of thirteen Secondary Schools competing. There were six fierce rounds of the competition on topics including Historic Sites and Buildings, Battle and Struggle for St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Archaeology, Political History, Festivals and Local Expressions.

The Intermediate High School placed second, while the Georgetown Secondary School and the Girls’ High School tied for third place. The other schools in the competition were Emmanuel High School Kingstown, Mountain View Academy, Petit Bordel Secondary, St. Clair Deacon Secondary, St. Joseph’s Convent Kingstown, Thomas Saunders Secondary, Troumaca Secondary and West St. George Secondary. These Schools were awarded gifts and certificates.
