PM: Who Would Want to Kill Glenn Jackson?

Prime Minister’s statement on the death of Glenn Jackson

(Speaking from Malaysia, Tuesday 7 March)

When I got the information at about 3.30 this morning, I was in Singapore. I was awoken, and a numbness came over me. I am very pained at this, this senseless killing and I want to assure everyone that we will do all in our power to bring the perpetrator to justice. {{more}}

We have technical persons who have come in already, forensic persons, and we are seeking to get someone from Scotland Yard.

Glenn Jackson was and has been a magnificent individual: very talented, all round a fine communicator, a professional par excellence, a strong supporter of the Government. Glenn was like my younger brother, and he looked to me like his older brother. His mother and I were very close and this thing is extremely painful to me. I am sure that my pain and anguish is shared by the people of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

This is the first murder for the year, and it is shocking. Who would want to kill Glenn Jackson? I know there will be lots of theories and speculation, I ask everyone to be calm, let the police do their work. Anyone who has information leading to the conviction of the perpetrator of this dastardly crime is asked to get this information to the police, the law enforcement authorities.

To his mother, his step-father, wife and children, on behalf of the Government and People of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, I extend sincerest condolences. Eloise is with me, and she is also in a state of shock over this senseless murder. The leads will be followed up. I am quite sure the police will do a professional job with assistance from outside investigation agencies.
