This time Bo Sterk of the United States, continued the survey of the local apiaries and conducted a series of training workshops with Bee Keepers and other technical Officers of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, in Integrated Pests and Disease Management for Apiaries.

The workshop was held for three days, on Wednesday, January 25 and today, Friday, January 27, in Kingstown at the Ministry’s Conference Room and on Thursday, January 26 in Bequia.

Sterk’s visit comes on the heels of one made by another FAVACA consultant, Tomas Mozer who visited St. Vincent in February, 2005, and made a number of recommendations in relation to the loss of hives due to the death of the bees caused by undetermined factors.

Sterk’s visit has been made possible through Inter-American Institute for Cooperation in Agriculture, IICA.
