One of the first publications launched this year has been by the St.Vincent Employers’ Federation.

Don Providence, President of the St.Vincent Employers’ Federation, said the organization is attempting to provide a medium where members of the community can get information long after the office is closed.

Providence said the St.Vincent Employers’ Federation is hoping the booklet will be used by all business people and those who are employed in St.Vincent and the Grenadines. He said the organization is also hoping to provide other documents that will serve the needs of Vincentians.

Gerald Crick, Executive Director of the St.Vincent Employers Federation, who had the responsibility of preparing the document said it is one of the first steps in maintaining good industrial relations and having all the players involved singing from the same song sheet and speaking the same language.

He said with the Caribbean Single Market and Economy on stream efforts will be made to harmonize the whole field of industrial relations.

Deniston Douglas, the representative from the Labour Department, lamented the lack of representation from the St. Vincent Employers Federation for such an important venture.

“It’s an indication of the state of industrial relations or employers don’t put a high priority on it,” said Douglas.

The document is being sold for $25 and is distributed by the St.Vincent Employers Federation.
