The National Drama Festival 2005 climaxed on Saturday, November 26 with an awards ceremony at the Peace Memorial Hall. The closing ceremony heard addresses from Foster Hannaway of Cable & Wireless and Cheryl Rodriguez of the National Commercial Bank, sponsors of the Schools’ and Community Drama Festivals respectively. {{more}}

This year’s special honoree was Bobby Fraser who was awarded for his outstanding contribution to culture.

The schools’ festival was dominated by Girls’ High School whose students won the Best Costume, Best Set Design, Best Supporting Actress, Best Lead Actress, Best Director, Best Production and Dramatist of the Festival titles. The St. Joseph’s Convent Marriaqua was also in winner’s row, coming out front with an award for Best Supporting Actor. Best Make-up was won by St. Joseph’s Convent Kingstown, Best Stage Management went to Intermediate High School, Best Lead Actor to Bishop’s College Kingstown and Best Script to Troumaca Ontario Secondary School.

In the Community Festival, Best Actor went to Selwyn Stewart of the Methodist Dramatists, Best Supporting Actor to Kashaka Bulze of A’level Performers, Best Actress and Dramatist of the Festival to Lafette Johnson-James of Hairoun Theatre, Best Supporting Actress to Jennifer Bacchus of Methodist Dramatists, Best Director to Kevin Rodriguez of Methodist Dramatists, Best Stage Manager to H. Cuffy of Methodist Dramatists, Best Costume to Hairoun Theatre, Best Make-up to Methodist Dramatist and Best Set to Hairoun Theatre.
