Stevenson to face Slater in polls


Nigel Stevenson, scored his first victory in the political arena last weekend when he was chosen by the members of the New Democratic Party (NDP) South Leeward Constituency Branch to contest the next general elections against the incumbent, Dr. Douglas Slater of the governing Unity Labour Party.

Stevenson, a teacher by profession defeated lawyer Vynette Frederick to cement his place on the NDP ticket.{{more}}

His victory came three days after former Ambassador to the Organization of American States (OAS), Kingsley Layne, won the right to represent the West St.George Constituency after he defeated talk show host Frank DaSilva. Layne will vie for the seat against Mike Browne of the Unity Labour Party.

Meanwhile, the New Democratic Party takes to the campaign trail tomorrow night when the Party launches Elvis “Teacher” Daniel at Mount Bentinck as the candidate for North Windward. It will be the battle of the Daniels when Elvis a former teacher at the Teachers College who holds a Masters Degree comes up against Montgomery Daniel of the ULP in the general elections.
