The New Democratic Party (NDP) of St. Vincent and the Grenadines launches its candidate for the Southern Grenadines this weekend. On Saturday June 18, 2005, the party presents Terrance Ollivierre to the people.

The exercise takes place in Ashton, Union Island and is expected to start at 7 p.m. Ollivierre, the parliamentary representative for the Southern Grenadines constituency, is seeking a second term. {{more}}The NDP regards this as a comfortable exercise for Ollivierre who defeated the Unity Labour Party’s (ULP) Edwin Snagg in 2001.

Awarded Bachelor’s

Terrance changed both his educational and marital status since last general elections. Following his success at the polls he walked down the aisle and married Vennecia. Ollivierre was awarded his Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of the West Indies in July of 2001.

He lives on Union Island where he and his wife are bringing up their two children Tekeiya and Therese.

Terrance has made significant contributions in the parliament of St. Vincent and the Grenadines especially since his elevation to the House of Assembly. He is the party’s spokes person on Education, Youth and Sports and quite often makes the point that we as a country should concentrate on delivering “education for living and production.”

Looking for second win

Ollivierre spends virtually all of his time working with and for the people of the Southern Grenadines. He believes his connection with the youth will propel him to win the seat a second time around irrespective of the candidate posed by the governing ULP.

A vocalist with the music band VISION from Canouan and a full supporter of cultural and sporting events on the islands of Mayreau, Union Island, Canouan, Palm Island and Pettit St. Vincent, Ollivierre believes he is destined to continue his contributions at the national level with a larger mandate and ultimately with ministerial responsibilities.
