The Guy family was at home last Monday morning during the tropical wave that was affecting the country when a section of an embankment near to their home came crashing down.

Merlyne Guy said it was minutes past nine a.m. when the bank broke. The Stubbs resident disclosed plans were just being made to remove the debris when another section of the bank came rushing down with water into her yard.

“I was very frightened,” said Guy, who feared that the landslide would have damaged her house.

Guy said the family is fortunate that no one was injured.

And at Quarry just overlooking the Cruise Ship Berth in Kingstown, a house, still under construction suffered after earth movement, brought on by the heavy rains.

Staff at the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMO) had their hands full as calls poured in about landslides and blockages caused by the rains.
