Representatives from the Regional Youth Caucus, a body of young people selected by their governments to promote CYP’s work, called for the parties to respect the rule of law, to abide by the Constitution of Belize and to engage in dialogue to resolve any outstanding issues of national importance.

A release from the RYC denounced any attempts at destabilizing a democratically elected government and recognizes that any act to create social unrest will have harmful effects on the normal lives of the citizens, especially the youth.

The RYC has also recommended that the Commonwealth Secretariat seek to foster a peaceful resolution to the impasse since it is felt that the volatility of the situation could exacerbate, threatening peace and democracy.

The RYC has the responsibility of representing the youth of the Caribbean region by championing their issues and concerns, guided by the Commonwealth ideals and values in order to advance their holistic development.

Apart from bringing awarenes to the Belize impasse the RYCs will examine a range of issues including the proposed CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME).
