Caribbean Exams – A model for Africa

Particularly interested in understanding CXC’s Examinations Processing System (EPS), a team from the Ministry of Education in Botswana, Africa visited the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) from February 21 to 23.{{more}}

According to a release from CXC, the Examinations Research and Testing Division (ERTD) in Botswana is currently involved in a project to computerize its core functions and CXC was selected as a model to the needs of ERTD.

While in Barbados, members of the Botswana delegation met with personnel from CXC’s Information Systems Division, Measurement and Evaluation Division and Examinations Administration Division, as well as with officials from the Ministry of Education.

The team from Africa also held discussions with CXC staff and focused on the functionality of the Examinations Processing System, the technical infrastructure required to operate the EPS and issues surrounding its implementation.

The Botswana delegation comprised C Makobole, Principal Education Officer; R Vappala, Senior Systems Analyst; G Sedisa, Quality Assurance and Assessment Officer from the ERTD and A Petkar, Project Manager; Naledi Norwebb, Management Consultant and D Beckles, Subject Matter Expert from EOH/KPMG Consulting.
