The ceremonial turning of the sod was done Tuesday by Errol Belgraves, who will be the contractor in charge of the project, and witnessed by Sister Pat, principal of the St. Joseph’s Convent , Marriaqua and several seminarians from Trinidad, Dominica and the Bahamas.

Sister Pat said that the home is a project being undertaken by the Diocese of Kingstown and will count on local help and with promised assistance from German and Canadian sources with furnishings.

The home, which has been described as “well needed” should cater for at least 18 girls in need. Original funding was provided by the Government of Japan which donated US$90,000.
