The function, held at the official residence of the Prime Minister last Thursday, 30th December, was attended by many of the veteran politician’s constituents and former colleagues who served with him in the St. Vincent Labour Party (SVLP) led administration when Sir Vincent first entered Parliament. Conspicuously absent were members of the Opposition New Democratic Party.

The many who gathered on the grounds of the official residence, though, were entertained by the Police Force band, Ken Isles, and the Avenue Dancers’ junior and senior troupes. Testimonies were heard from Attorney General Arthur Williams, with whom Sir Vincent served until 1984; current Speaker of the House Hendrick Alexander, a former SVLP senator; and from Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves.

Sir Vincent has announced that he would be retiring from active politics.
