The North Central Windward village of Park Hill, in the interior section of mainland St. Vincent, has two additional reasons to celebrate as the Yuletide season heightens.

They have a reinforced tunnel with 1949 feet of concrete road costing over $1M. Carmina McKie had the honour of cutting the ribbon to declare the refurbished tunnel open. {{more}}

The spotlight fell on her fellow villager Donna Glasgow earlier that afternoon. Glasgow’s duty was when the EC $295,247 Sir Vincent Drive was declared open. That construction links the areas of Valley road and Junction.

An entourage of government officials including area representative, Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves, witnessed the ceremonies.

He was generous in praise for former North Central Windward parliamentarian Sir Vincent Beache in whose honour the road was named.

It was a symbolic gesture to recognise Sir Vincent who marked his 30th year as an elected parliamentarian December 5, 2004. Sir Vincent said that he was overwhelmed by the gesture made by the government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

He thanked the residents for their enduring support over the years and told them to embrace the development of their community as they have withstood a number of tribulations over the years.

It was genuine jubilation in Park Hill with persons jumping carnival style behind the truck as the community reveled in its moment of truth.
