And new company chairman Dr. Jean Holder, speaking at a public relations event at the Accra Hotel in Barbados last Friday in the presence of company officials and media from St. Vincent and the Grenadines and St. Lucia, warned that support from clients must not be taken for granted.

The former secretary general of the Caribbean Tourism Organization also warned that if LIAT is to make a difference the workers must be sure to be giving their best.

The LIAT Frequent Flyer Programme as presented by LIAT Marketing Analyst Osbert Frederick, has changed drastically since it was initially introduced some 12 years ago. He said that as of May 1 this year, the programme became automated to make it easier for LIAT’s clients to make secure applications with their frequent flyer card.

He revealed that persons who travel 15,000 miles a year would qualify for a platinum card valid for the calendar year in which it is achieved plus the following year. Frederick expressed confidence that this programme will advance the LIAT brand and be rewarding for the airline’s customers.

LIAT frequent flyers can have their flight miles honoured on tickets bought back to May 1, 2004.

Meanwhile LIAT earlier announced that it has been named Airline Of The Year by the St. Kitts Tourism Authority. This award follows closely on the heels of LIAT receiving the gold award from Value Vacations in Barbados for the airline’s contribution to tourism.

A release from LIAT states, “These awards are tangible recognition of LIAT’s position as the number one regional carrier in the Eastern Caribbean.”

The release further states that LIAT is proud of its 48 years of unbroken service to the people of the region.
