Tomorrow Saturday, 13 November, 82 primary school students will test their skills in local and regional history, current affairs, credit unions, sports, and general knowledge issues.

This event, dubbed the Kingstown Cooperative Credit Union Quiz, has been organised in conjunction with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports. {{more}}

The schools will be in six groups, and winners will advance to the final carded for Peace Memorial Hall on December 11.

Participants in tomorrow’s action will get stationery packages and certificates. But the attraction is the Thomas Saunders Challenge trophy, cash, and a replica for the winner. Other finalists will receive replicas and awards.

The KCCU had been spearheading quizzes for primary and secondary schools over the past 14 years. This was done with weekly questions in newspapers during August holidays. Winners from those weekly events advanced to the final where top performers were given cash and stationery supplies.

The session was shelved over the past two years to reorganise. This time, the KCCU has chosen to involve a wider range of students. And they hope to make it an annual affair.

The KCCU was registered April 12, 1958. They have a membership of to 10,171, with assets worth $28.6m.
