One hundred cub scouts under the age of 11 left St. Vincent and the Grenadines earlier this week for Grenada to participate in the 10th Caribbean Cubbery which will be staged at St. Georges.
The Cubbery, which will run from July 20-27, will involve Cub Scouts from the English-speaking Caribbean islands as far north as Jamaica down to Guyana in the south.{{more}}
Twelve leaders from St. Vincent and the Grenadines will accompany the Cub Scouts. Assistant Commissioner Christopher Grant will go along as an observer.
The camp will teach the boys certain basic skills and test them in areas of smartness and good order (drills), crafts, hiking and picnicking.
The boys will get the opportunity to socialise with other boys from across the Caribbean region and visit historic sites. They will also be involved in cultural activities, dancing, singing, poetry and story telling.
They represent Cub Scout groups from the Calliaqua Primary, Mesopotamia Government, Kingstown Preparatory and Chateaubelair Primary.
