KCCU looking at financial independence

The Kingstown Cooperative Credit Union, this country’s oldest Credit Union, holds its 42nd Annual General Meeting tomorrow Saturday May 29.
It is scheduled for the Kingstown Methodist Church Hall at 10 am under the theme: “Achieving Financial Independence through our Credit Union.” {{more}}
The KCCU, registered April 12, 1958 has a membership of about 10,000 with assets worth some $40 million.
The KCCU has come through ups and downs, almost threatened with liquidation in 1984. Since then it rebounded with vigour and, having benefited from the expertise of a number of professionals, emerged as a model in the region. The present manager is Brenetta Dublin who commands a staff of 17.
The present Board of Directors comprises Rueben John president, vice president David Telesford, treasurer Edmund Jackson, secretary Brenton Milligan with Directors Annis Horne, Euna Thompson and Brenan King.
Tomorrow’s meeting will hear reports from the various committees and elect officers to the several posts.
