Archbishop: Let us lead by example

Archbishop: Let us lead by example

by Cosmore Pompey – Archbishop of the Spiritual Baptist Church.

Let us with a gladsome mind

Praise the Lord for he is kind

For his mercy still endure

Ever faithful ever sure

Let me invite you to reflect on the above mentioned verse in song, then join me in thanking God for his mercies to us as a nation and as a people.

Twenty-seven years as an Independent nation is enough for us to assess our contribution to nation building. If you can truly say I have played my part and others can recognize such, then take a bow and celebrate with St. Vincent and the Grenadines our twenty-seventh anniversary and your Vincentian identity.{{more}}

We must always be mindful of our role, this country depends on all of us and we must all work together to build a better St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

As a nation who believes in the freedom and dignity of man and the supremacy of God, let us give thanks to God for those who have served in the past and those who continue to serve, leading the way for those who will serve us in the future.

When we think about the future, we always think about our youth, but have we stopped to think of the number of youths who were taken away from us through tragedy namely drowning, accidents, suicide and shooting over the last two months?. This must be a wake up call for us as a nation, and a lesson for our youth. When God called the young ones, he said, I called thee young man, because thou art strong and acknowledging that call, our young people are to remember their creator, even when the evil days come upon them. So as we prepare these young people for the task ahead, let us lead by example, stand up and be counted.

Blessed is the nation whose god is the Lord.

On behalf of my wife, and the Spiritual Baptist fraternity, I salute St. Vincent and the Grenadines on its 27th anniversary of Independence and wish for the Government and people many bright years ahead.

May God Bless You!
