Find unity in Christ and build our Nation

by the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Christian Council

Dear Fellow Citizens,

We greet you on behalf of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Christian Council on this the 26th Anniversary of our Independence.

Pray with us that we will all find unity in Christ and continue to build up our Nation for God. It is our prayer, and this is one of the very reasons we continue to persevere, that nation building and kingdom building will be conceived as the same exercise under God, redeemed through the precious blood of Jesus and sanctified by the continuing activity of the Holy Spirit in the World.{{more}}

Over the past year, we have all been confronted with the inability of small-states to control their own destiny in terms of trade and commerce; the increasing polarization caused by partisan politics; the frequency of natural disasters in almost every corner of the world; the increasing fallout from the cold war in Iraq; terrorism; criminality; the growth in the drug culture; the spread of HIV/AIDS and the rising cost of energy. All these ills have made us aware of the vulnerability of this global village in which we live.

We Christians continue to believe that God is still engaged in His World and that He has an answer of peace for all who turn to Him. I urge you therefore that at this time to put your trust in the true and the living God, to become engaged with God in building our Nation with hard work, increasing productivity and the utilization of the skills with which He has endowed us; to make our mark for Him in the realization of our Lord’s prayer that His Kingdom will come to earth as it is in Heaven.

A Happy Independence Day to you, and may God bless us all.
