Gospel talent search – opportunity to showcase local talent

A recording contract and $1,500 are up for grabs for singers of the gospel music genre, as gospel promoters Awesome Praise Promotions (APP) put on a talent search extravaganza.{{more}}

Member of APP Pastor Costian Cupid says, however, that the event is not just a competition with prizes at stake, but it is an opportunity to bring local talent to the forefront.

“Our main thing is to showcase the young people and their talents, because we realize that Vincentians have a lot of talent, but there is no one to really push them forward. So Awesome Praise Promotions has taken up the challenge to push forward the young people; so we have a sponsor to give them a recording contract and $1,500 for first prize, $500 for second prize, and $250 for third.”

Cupid indicated that auditions will start this Saturday at the Diamond Deliverance Assembly, beginning at 3 p.m. instead of the 11 a.m. previously announced.

The auditions move to the Barrouallie Family Worship Centre on September 6; then, on September 13, auditions will take place at the Chebar Evangelical Assembly in Kingstown, with the finals slated for September 20 at the Victoria Park in Kingstown.

Cupid also said that as an added incentive to individuals or groups, a free registration would be given at each audition.

The finals will also feature a performance by Evangelist Shirley Browne, who recently released her third album “Lord I want to be used,” which features 11 tracks.

Browne promises that the talent search, along with her participation, is going to bless the hearts of persons attending.

“This CD I know is going to bless many hearts.

“I was inspired to do this CD and the Lord has put it on my heart to reach the people not only in St Vincent, but for everyone.”

Other members of the APP, Bishop Lennie Francois and Prophetess Kim Cupid, also added that the talent search is a perfect opportunity to put St Vincent and the Grenadines on the world stage when it comes to gospel music, as well as to bring more persons to Christ.(JJ)
