The contestants are: Kizzy-Ann Black, Miss St Vincent, Renisha Wells, Miss Grenada, Curlissa Charles, Miss Trinidad, Raquel John, Miss St Lucia, Melicia Antoine, Miss Canouan, Phillis Dember, Miss Union Island and Tiffany Goodridge, Miss Barbados.

Head of the Easterval Committee Abdon Whyte is encouraging persons to come to the Southern Grenadine island to participate in the festivities.

“This Easter, in my opinion will be one of the best Easters we have had in years, based on all the activities we have planned. It’s day and night activities for the entire weekend,” Whyte told SEARCHLIGHT on Tuesday.

He added that the Gem Star ferry will be in operation throughout the entire weekend, so patrons can come to Union Island any day.

“If you don’t want to stay, the boat will be running the entire weekend, so you can come for a show and then go back up when the boat comes,” he said.

From today, the Bank of St Vincent and the Grenadines (BOSVG), the St Vincent and the Grenadines Cruise Ship Terminal and Tourism Authority will host the Cultural Extravaganza, which will include groups such as Garifuna dancers, Bougles cultural group, Petit Martinique folk group and other local acts from Union Island.

Following that event, there will be a foam party. Friday will see the start of the Guinness Street football, followed by basketball. There will then be a white fete at the Eagles Nest.

Come Saturday, the day will bowl off with a T20 cricket match, followed by the kids fair, Easter bunny and beauty pageant parade, called festival day in Clifton. There will also be the Digicel 4G-Hairoun beer and SLR soca fest, which will feature WCK out of Dominica, and Lavaman from Grenada, along with a line-up of Vincentian artistes.

The festivities will culminate on Monday, April 21 with J’Ouvert and Monday night mas.

Sponsors of the event include: Tourism Authority, Digicel, Hairoun Beer, BOSVG, NLA, Wind and Sea Yacht Charters, Scaramouche Yacht Charters, Courts, Tobago Cays Marine Park,SVG Cruise Ship Terminal, and SLR Rum.
