Bunny Wailer thrills Victoria Park with back in time reggae

Jamaican reggae legend Bunny Wailer turned back the hands of time, much to the delight of reggae fans, as the curtains came down on Sunday, at the Opening Ceremony of the historic regional reparations conference.{{more}}

Wailer, real name Neville O’Reilly Livingston, offered up a serving of nostalgia, as the last of two original Wailers performed hit after hit on stage at the Victoria Park, which was renamed Freedom Park for the evening by featured speaker Professor Verene Shepherd.

The large crowd in attendance sang along to every one of Wailer’s notes, and “skanked” with the 66-year-old entertainer during his approximately 20-minute set.

The three time Grammy winner belted out a number of songs of his former band mates Bob Marley and Peter Tosh, both deceased, and added to the repertoire, a few songs performed by the Wailers.

The “Blackheart Man” also belted out a number of his chart topping singles, including “Ballroom floor”, and “Rock and Groove”, among others.

Wailer was also scheduled to present a paper yesterday, during the second day of the conference, at the Methodist Church Hall, Kingstown. The conference wraps up today.
