At the Miss St George pageant at Tito’s Restaurant and Bar in Arnos Vale on June 7, Frank was crowned Calypso Monarch with her song “I inherit that”, while Muckett walked away with the Soca Monarch title with his song entitled “New Dance”.

Frank was back to her winning ways, after bagging the calypso crown in the East St George calypso competition in 2011, with her song entitled “Teach us about Africa”.

This year, the Mesopotamia resident said her song is all about reminding us about the things we inherit and that we ought to appreciate them.

“I feel really good. It is a good start for the season,” she said.

A member of the P’tani calypso tent, Frank said her focus is now on the national calypso monarchy, for which she indicated that she feels her chances are “very high”.

Marvo Morgan took the second spot, while Winston “Papa Iston” Lewis was third.

Gosnel “GC” Cupid, Jerome “Parry” Samuel and Niquette Bess were the other calypsonians.

Muckett, a resident of Fairbaine Pasture, said he wrote the song on the popular “Pally wack riddim”.

He says he feels really good about winning the title.

“I have been putting out good songs over the years and this year, my intention is to go forward in attaining the ragga soca monarch. So this was a great opportunity for me.”

He praised his producer Galanaire for giving him the opportunity to appear on the riddim. The experienced calypsonian said he is out to make things great for his 10th year in the music business.

“So far, tonight, I am feeling happy and things are going my way,” Muckett stated.

Rajiv “Ruffy” Roberts was second, while Damion “DC” Chance had to settle for third position.

The other artistes in the soca competition were: Icey, Fresh Kyd, Vision, and Beenie. (KW)
