This year’s line-up includes Trinidad’s Bunji Garlin and Fay-ann Lyons, as well as the godfather of calypso, the Mighty Shadow. From Grenada, Tallpree and Lavaman and from Barbados, Lil Rick.

The Vincentian cast includes Road March champion Fire Empress, former soca monarch Fireman Hooper, Luta, Royal Fanatics and organizer of the event Gamal “Skinny Fabulous” Doyle.

Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, Karen Veira of Stickman Entertainment gave the assurance that this year’s show will be one with a difference and new additions.

Veira said that patrons entering Victoria Park on June 15 will be given glow sticks and phantom masks in keeping with the theme of the show – “Rise of the phantom.”

“Gates open at 8 p.m. and show is scheduled to start from 10 p.m. until.

“There is no break. There is no MC that comes out and says the next performer is; there will just straight performances from 10 p.m. until.

“You wouldn’t know which artiste is next. We will be mixing it up. So it will be local and then the foreign artiste and then a local and then a foreign, so you really don’t know who will be performing next. It’s just going to be a non-stop show,” Veira said.

Guinness representative Lamont Medica said his company is pleased to be associated with the event, as Guinness makes it a habit of aligning itself with promoters and events that are unique.

“We are definitely excited and happy to be a part of Black Rave… I’d definitely invite all of St Vincent and the Grenadines to come out, because, trust me, the show is going to be great.

“There will be lots of Guinness. We are not going to run out of Guinness, so just come out and have a good time. Remember it is Carnival and we are looking for clean fun. You can enjoy all the Guinness you want, but do it responsibly, please,” Medica said.

Meanwhile, the man responsible for creating the Black Rave show, Gamal Skinny Fabulous Doyle was unable to attend the press conference, but gave brief remarks via Facetime (a phone app that allows video chat).

Doyle thanked all the sponsors and everyone supporting the event and promised that the show, as it is said in local terms, “tun up.” (AA)
