At a press conference on Wednesday, chief executive officer of the Carnival Development Corporation (CDC) Ashford Wood said he is of the firm belief that each of the contestants did her best.

He said feedback from the public in relation to the show, staged on June 1, has been mixed.

“What we’ve got to realize is that from time to time we are going to have glitches in any show…

“Once you are a promoter this happens. And last Saturday we saw some of them. Admittingly, we saw some of them. Some of the segments may not have lived up to your expectations, but I am confident that each contestant would have given of [her] best,” the CEO stated.

He stated that as Miss Carival draws near, the CDC is asking the entire nation to stand firmly behind Miss SVG 2013, Shara George, who will be representing St Vincent and the Grenadines in the show.

“…We feel that it is time that we keep another Miss Carival title at home,” Wood added.

The Miss Carival pageant will be held on Friday, June 28, under the theme, “28 Years of Exquisite Pageantry 1985-2013”.

Head of the Beauty Shows Committee Cheryl Rodriguez, speaking at a recent press conference, said that this year, every effort is being made to ensure quality representation and performances from all participating countries. (AA)
