Lina will definitely take modelling world by storm – Elite agent

Lina Dornieden, St Vincent and the Grenadines’ first representative to the ELITE Model Look international modelling competition in Shanghai, China, has returned home.{{more}}

Over a two-week period, she participated in intense training that culminated in the final showcase on December 1, with live performances by the international popstar Jessie J and renowned DJ Bob Sinclar.

“The first time we met Lina, we saw her potential immediately. We thought she was stunning, beautiful, and confident. Very modelesque,” Lina’s ELITE agent, John Bilboa, said.

“This year Lina had the most amazing opportunity to represent St Vincent and the Grenadines at the Elite Model Look world finals in Shanghai.

“Thanks to Kimya Glasgow and the support of the Government of St Vincent & the Grenadines, Lina was able to fulfil her dream and put this beautiful country on the map, regarding talent and beauty.

“This was an amazing learning experience for Lina introducing her to the modelling industry with many photo shoots, meeting other contestants and Elite Agents from all over the world, runway coaching, makeovers, wardrobe, rehearsals, and most of all learning that to be a model is a lot of work where you need to have discipline,” he further said.

“Lina had a good response from several Elite agents and will be in contact with us to follow up on her. As she is still very young, our plans for Lina are to begin her international modelling career in 2013. We would like to congratulate Lina for her excellent participation in Shanghai and we believe this promising young lady will definitely be on her way to take the modelling world by storm,” Bilboa further stated.

Dornieden said the highlights of her trip included meeting the other competing models from all over the world, sharing the culture of SVG and the various events. She was able to develop friendships with the representatives from Peru, Zimbabwe, India and Puerto Rico.

She also remarked at how extremely clean Shanghai was, and that “they sweep up even the leaves that fall from the trees right away”.

Lina was also delighted to meet international model Noémie Lenoir, who has been featured on the covers of Vogue and Elle magazines.

Noémie was one of three professional top models who were there to give guidance and advice, to be mentors, to encourage and inspire the girls and to speak truthfully about the ups and downs of the industry.

She advises Vincentians with aspirations of doing international modelling to do their research.

“… even though the ELITE model boot camp was challenging, I learnt a lot about developing as a professional model,” she said.

She expressed her gratitude for the support she got from Vincentians while in Shanghai and to everyone who made it possible for her to participate, including Invest SVG.
