The annual ELITE Model Look is the world’s largest and most renowned international modeling contest. It offers the opportunity for aspiring models to enter the fashion industry with the ultimate goal of becoming icons.

According to Kimya Glasgow, the local representative for ELITE, Lina represented SVG at the regional level in 2011, and this year, in the absence of a regional competition, received an invitation to compete in the World Final, through the ELITE Latin American office.

This would make her the only representative from the English-speaking Caribbean and the very first representative for St Vincent and the Grenadines at the international finals.

The other Caribbean contestants are Haiti, Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico.

There are over 60 representatives taking part from all over the world. There will be extensive international media coverage of the event itself, the aspiring models and their respective countries.

For the next two weeks, the models will be going through catwalk training, photo shoots, meetings with the ELITE Jury, cultural tours, and the final showcase on 1 December. The Jury and ELITE agents will choose 15 winners, who will all be awarded three year contracts with ELITE Model Management. The top three “Great Winners” will also receive cash prizes of between $50,000 and $150,000.

Past contestants of ELITE Model Look are Cindy Crawford, Stephanie Seymour and Gisele Bündchen. ELITE also represents, or has represented, models such as Heidi Klum, Tyra Banks, actress Dianne Kruger, Naomi Campbell, Adriana Lima, Liya Kibede, Coco Rocha and Veronica Webb.
