Fireman ready to unleash the animal

After a great performance at Victoria Park in 2011 to win the title of Soca Monarch for the seventh time, Delroy Fireman Hooper will be off to TnT to represent St Vincent and the Grenadines in the Digicel International Soca Monarch 2012, which takes place on 17 February, 2012.{{more}} Fireman will be performing his song “Animal” written by Fireman and produced by Neil Bernard. The show will see performances from some of the top names in the Soca arena.

Delroy ‘Fireman’ Hooper, the seven-time Soca Monarch of St Vincent and the Grenadines, is now moving well and truly beyond the limitations of the local shows in which he first made his name. His deep-seated love of Soca and Ragga Soca shines strongly through, as well as his passion for songwriting.

Not that his career to date hasn’t been illustrious; he has established himself as a true ambassador for SVG in the Soca arena. He is the only artiste to win that title seven times. In 2010, he made his debut in the Raga Soca competition and won with the song “Holy Fire”. He has performed throughout the Caribbean, Canada, USA, Germany and UK.

Fireman started his soca career with a group named the Roses Crew, when he won his first crown. He went solo a couple of years later, under the management of Island network, and is now a member of the LIME Soca Dans, a group of some of SVG’s top artistes.

Fireman Hooper and his management team Island Network Inc. have been working hard in preparation for participation in this event. They collaborated with St Vincent Brewery Ltd by hosting two shows – one the Leeward and the other on the Windward side of the island. To ensure SVG is well represented, assistance towards participation was given by the Government of St Vincent and the Grenadines, through the Ministry of Tourism and Tourism Authority, National Lottery Authority and Invest SVG, along with St Vincent Brewery and LIME. Fireman’s delegation leaves on Friday, 10 February, 2012 for TnT.
