ROK Entertainment presents CanFest 2011 – December 23

ROK Entertainment presents CanFest 2011 – December 23

The fifth annuAl CanFest, which is a concert designed to raise awareness and mobilize national support for charitable organizations that cater to the needs{{more}} of the many less fortunate people within our society, will be held on December 23.

CanFest is a national charity movement that was born over 4 years ago on December 21, 2007, by R.O.K Entertainment. This was the first event of its kind to be done on such a mammoth scale.

R.O.K Entertainment saw the need for such a movement, as they believed there was a general perception that charity was reserved for people within the upper echelon of society. This inspired the group to initiate a movement that would mobilize a broad base and diverse national support for charity. It is out of this thinking Canfest emerged. Canfest provides Vincentians from all walks of life and tiers of society with the opportunity each year since 2007 to make a small but meaningful contribution to charity.

Over the last four years since the Canfest movement started, the movement has collected over 160,000 Cans of Food and have donated these to Over 11 different charitable, governmental organizations, as well as many less fortunate families across the island. The Salvation Army, Red Cross, Milton Cato Memorial Hospital, The Mental Home, The Children’s Ward, St. Benedict Day Nursery, Inner Wheel Club, Lions Club, The House of Hope and the Ministry of National Mobilization and many families in the rural areas are some of the beneficiaries

On December 23, the Canfest movement will continue into its 5th year. The concept remains unchanged. In exchange for only three cans of Food, patrons will receive a FREE Ticket to enter VICTORIA PARK to witness live in Concert two chart-hitting Artistes from two different parts of the hemisphere: Shurwayne Winchester of Trinidad and Tobago, and for the first time to be performing in St. Vincent Jah-Vinci of Portmore, Jamaica.

R.O.K Entertainment acknowledges and thanks all the sponsors who have supported Canfest and R.O.K Entertainment over the years, without which the movement would not enjoy the success it has had over the years.

Special thanks to DIGICEL, HOT 97.1, KFC, ST. VINCENT BREWERY, GRENADINE HOUSE, SEARCHLIGHT, IKTV, OT FACTORY OUTLET, IBS, EDGE SOLUTIONS INC, MUSIC CENTER, NATIONAL LOTTERIES, THE NATIONAL CADET FORCE and all the INDIVIDUALS who have supported the movement in many ways too many to mention. In our society, it is common thinking to believe that giving is only reserved for special occasions. However, we encourage people to support charity and support it as often as you Can. Support Canfest FRIDAY, 23RD DECEMBER, 2K11!
