Soca giant Skinny Fabulous ready to ‘Rumble in the Cave’

Without a shadow of a doubt, Gamal “Skinny Fabulous” Doyle is not just a household name anymore; he’s been elevated to the status of a Soca giant.{{more}}

With three passports finished within the space of a year and a half, sold out shows and numerous bookings, Skinny Fabulous continues to make not only his name soar, but also that of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

“2010 to 2011 has been really good. I had an excellent year…I mean I was always booked for shows, so I was never bored or idle. I always had bookings throughout the year,” Skinny told SEARCHLIGHT.

The 135 pound star said his smash hit “Charge Up” released in 2010, is still bringing in major bookings to date. Skinny says his music catalogue has grown to a point where he can now headline shows overseas, rather than being among the cast of the show.

The three-time and reigning soca monarch said his travels have taken him places he never imagined. From New York, New Jersey, California, Washington, Philadelphia to Birmingham, London, Holland and Germany, Skinny did what he does best.

A versatile artiste, Skinny has graced the stage and done a number of collaborations with the biggest names in Soca and Dancehall, making him one of Soca’s much sought-after artistes.

With Soca Monarch just days away, Skinny admitted that things have not gone as planned, due to the fact that preparations for it were overshadowed by the Uncle Skinny’s Kids Carnival show, held on Sunday, June 19, at Victoria Park.

He admitted that the Kids Carnival took a lot of time and energy out of him, but nevertheless promises to give of his best.

“Plans haven’t even started for Soca Monarch…I ain’t even touch it (Soca Monarch) yet. I only have one week to prepare, but I’m still letting people know they are getting the best of Skinny Fabulous,” he assured.

Skinny took the time to thank his fans and management for their unwavering support throughout the years.

With two big tracks, “The Cave” and “Ready to Rumble”, one can only wonder which song he would be performing on July 2, in hope of retaining his crown. Jokingly, Skinny said, “Just tell the people that we going to rumble in the cave.”
