Despite the intermittent rainfall throughout the night, many persons, young and old, came out in their exercise attire to engage in an entire body workout out to hits performed by some of the country’s top soca artistes.

The stage, well decorated with gym equipment, saw various groups from around the country partake in the soca aerobics challenge.

Workout instructions were given by the Hitz FM DJ’s.

With his hit song “Tsunami”, which has been ripping the airwaves over the past month, Roland “Pressure” Peters showed that he has a chance of taking this year’s Soca Monarch crown from two time winner, Gamal “Skinny Fabulous” Doyle.

From the time he chanted “Yuh ready”, the crowd did not hesitate to put their waists and legs in full work-out mode.

Speaking of Doyle, the young man of “Beast let go” and “Head bad” fame performed for the first time in St Vincent since 2009.

Battling asthma symptoms, Doyle did not let his ailment get in the way of giving the large crowd what they came for – a great performance.

Fresh from his tour of Berlin, Germany, Skinny showed his versatility on the mic when he sang his latest hit “Bumper in trouble” done in a Barbadian accent.

Not to be outdone, the LIME Vincy Soca Dans trio of Delroy “Fireman” Hooper, Rondy “Luta” McIntosh and James “Jamesy P” Morgan had the crowd in a frenzy when they took the stage. Belting out some of their hit songs, the rags and large banners were waved higher when Luta dropped his tunes: “Tight Spot” and “Throw Bad mind”.

Some of the other acts included: HS Phaktor, Mad Symphony, Oscar, Demus, Fire Empress, Icon.

By the time the work out fete came to a close, persons were seen supporting one another as they walked out, proof that they had had an excellent workout experience. (KW)
