East St. George Carnival launch set for big blast


East St. George Carnival will be launched this evening, May 28, at the Culture Pot Square.

The programme, which begins at 7.30pm, will feature addresses by the Minister of Culture René Baptiste, Area Representative Clayton Burgin, Rural Carnival Coordinator Ezzie Roberts, Chairman of CARDO Foster Hannibal, and other speakers.{{more}}

The five beautiful ladies who will be vying for the Miss East St George crown will make an appearance, along with GC, the reigning calypso monarch, and Oscar, the reigning Soca Monarch. Other performances are expected to come from the Lime Vincy Soca Dans, along with other artistes.

The carnival activities will start in

full on Friday, June 11, with the Miss East St George Queen, Calypso and Soca Show, to be followed by the J’Ouvert and street jump up. The Kiddies Carnival is scheduled for the evening of Sunday, June 13.

The East St George Carnival is one of the bigger rural carnivals in St Vincent. Persons in Calliaqua and the surrounding areas are invited to come out and show their support.
