Mini Me, whose real name is Shayne Alexander, defeated two time defending champion Kalique ‘DJ Kal’ Sutherland after the two went to a best of five tune for tune showdown, when the stipulated ten-song clash ended in a draw.

The win at the Victoria Park earns Alexander not only the bragging rights for a year, but also EC$5,000 and entry into the regional finals, scheduled to take place in St. Maarten later this month.

Alexander reached the Finals with wins over DJ Magistrate and DJ Spoon, while Kal, who was in his third finals made light work of DJ Big Daddy Cain and DJ Slick.

After trading ten rounds of verbal and musical punches, much to the delight of each finalist’s supporters in the audience, the judges returned a tied score, which pushed the competition into a best-of-five overtime bout.

This made the difference for the underdog Mini Me, who captured all five rounds, to which Kal was unable to respond.

Happy with his victory, the DJ of eight years indicated that he was happy to be representing St. Vincent and the Grenadines in the October 16th Finals and promised to do his best.

Eight DJs competed in the finals, including DJ Specialist and DJ Neppy. (JJ)
