Miss SVG contestants make first appearance on stage

Judging from the response of persons at the Chamber of Commerce Car Park on Saturday night, this year’s Miss SVG pageant promises to be one for the books.{{more}}

As the eight young women made their first public appearance, since being introduced to the media at a sashing ceremony on April 26th, pockets of supporters and well wishers were heard offering very vocal support when the contestants stepped on the stage.

Each contestant was greeted with loud applause and cheers, as they introduced themselves, their sponsors, and encouraged patrons to support Carnival 2009 and invited all to attend the Miss SVG pageant on May 30th at the Victoria Park.

A packed programme of activities lies ahead of the young women as they prepare for their big day.

Their next major outing will be tomorrow, as they meet the media for interviews at the Young Island Resort, starting at 9 a.m.

This will be followed by other events, including a talent preview, Leeward and Windward road trips, visits to schools, a press conference and a visit to Cabinet.

The contestants are: Tenille Austin – Miss FirstCaribbean International Bank, Kristell Cambridge – Miss Mustique Company Ltd, Eshurnia Glasgow – Miss Williams Agencies and Fragrances, Kimorra Lavia – Miss Super Six, Nickillia Slater-Bridgewater – Miss Lotto, Yasmeen Hadaway – Miss LIME, Asmara Whiskey – Miss Caribbean Medical Imaging center and Veronique Williams- Miss Darcheville Construction Equipment Sales Caribbean Ltd.
