bMobile: Vincy Mas 2008 a big success

The Official telecommunications provider for Vincy Mas, Cable & Wireless, has declared Vincy Mas 2008 a success. The company, under its bMobile brand, was very active during the carnival season from its Ultimate Launch Party at Heritage Square to the bMobile Vincy Soca Dans Monday Band. bMobile was very visible in all CDC events and was a major sponsor of several rural carnivals, including North Leeward, Marriaqua, Calliaqua, Georgetown and Bequia.{{more}}

The bMobile brand was also once again associated with the Vincy Soca Dans and the 2008 installment of the bMobile Vincy Soca Dans Monday Band was yet again a ruler on the road on Carnival Monday. This year, armed with 2 music trucks, the band pulled the crowd, including revellers from other T Shirt Bands.

Although he had to take second position on Soca Monarch Night, six time Soca Monarch FireMan Hooper was still a force to be reckoned with on the Monday Band Truck. He, along with the other Soca Dans, Luta, Jamesy P, DJ Tarrus, Tabia and Jalena, made the bMobile band the number one band on the street on Carnival Monday.

“This year was very significant for Vincy Mas and the relationship between Cable & Wireless and the Carnival Development Corporation. We are not interested in handing money to the CDC and sending them off. Instead, we are more interested in the development of this festival and making it the Hottest Festival in the Caribbean. We partnered with business houses like Mustique Company and Grenadine House and brought Toronto Lime, the most popular West Indian music website, to cover Vincy Mas. This website gets over 100,000 hits per day and being the full service provider and platinum sponsors of the festival, we thought that this sort of exposure will serve Vincy Mas well. We sponsored five rural Carnival street parties and Miss Tamaisha Nichols, Miss bMobile, in the Miss SVG beauty pageant” recounted Country Manager, Angus Steele.

Over the season, bMobile promotions got the Vincentian public into the carnival spirit with lots of carnival giveaways, with many lucky bMobile customers winning costumes, t shirts to the Monday Band and tickets to various shows. The brand was also a big sponsor of the privately sponsored show “Fire Fete”, which featured Bunji Garlin, Faye Ann Lyons, Ricky T and the Explainer.

Quoting Win Callender of Swizzel Radio and WEFM, “the 4 Meg Broadband access offered by Cable and Wireless was exceptional. We had over 4000 hits over the weekend and customers expressed satisfaction about the exceptional picture quality. The technicians went beyond the call of duty to make sure Vincy Mas received quality international exposure, and I am sure that future Carnivals will see record crowds because of this kind of exposure.”

Cable & Wireless, which has signed a contract with the CDC, will sponsor Vincy Mas until 2010.
