Models strut their stuff on the Catwalk

Just as Mije’s Carnival Catwalk 2 was a huge success, part 3 definitely did not fail to impress.

Held on Sunday at Lowmans Bay, the Pirates Cove venue was splashed with a sea of colour and elegant designs. With the aid of classy models, who sashayed with attitude and flair, patrons were left begging for more.{{more}}

The show featured clothing from designers from Guyana, St Lucia, Barbados and host St Vincent.

Barbadian Dave Cox of Revolt had the crowd going with his showcase of some of the latest in urban clothing, while Cassandra Mottley satisfied the “fetish” of many with her line of trendy bathing suits.

All that was needed to complete Debbie Barbour’s bridal section were the sounds of wedding bells. Barbour’s line not only displayed ceremonial dresses from the present but some carried the image of ancient Greek Goddesses.

Guyanese Sonala Forte’s “Bumble Bee” evoked quite a buzz among the audience with her glistening array of colours, as Sharon Tanner of St Lucia gave the audience a double of fashion at its best with her male line “EC Harbour “ and female “Sha Creations.”

The ladies were in a for a treat of mouth watering eye candy when the men pounced on the catwalk in Sonia Noel’s line “Animal Unleashed”, which showcased leopard skin umbrellas, bathing trunks and dresses.

Adding much vigour and youth to the showcase, first-timers
Jeremy Payne and Lisa Cordice, both of the Community College,
looked like seasoned professionals in a competitive industry, and
managed to hold their own with their swanky lines affectionately
called “Sea Me” and “Poshelle”.

Executive Producer of the show Jean Johnney-Findlay said that the event was a great success despite all the ups and downs leading up to the big event. Johnney-Findlay said she was pleased with the massive turnout, despite the location, which she said was not the ideal place. She said that the opportunity was also used to launch two young and up coming fashion designers.

The event was sponsored by Nivea, SVG TV and Hitz Fm, Fitness Quest Guest House and DMG Furniture Enterprises. Mid-show performances came from Bomani and the Arabasque Dancers.
