The activities begin this evening with the Hairoun Beer soca invasion competition featuring 10 soca artistes trying to dethrone reigning monarch ‘Bagio” at the Penniston Community Centre.

The opening night will also feature pan and mas, which are new components of the South Leeward Carnival activities.

Carnival activities continue tomorrow Saturday with the Miss Hairoun Beer South Leeward Queen show with five contestants gracing the stage in four categories: swimwear, talent, evening wear and interview.

The contestants are Miss Chauncey – Flora Walker, Miss Penniston – Keronna Samuel, Miss Questelles – Shellene Ottley, Miss Campden Park – Korresia Chance and Miss Vermont – Shanaz Stephens.

Organisers will for the first time hold a J’Ouvert from 4:30am Sunday from Penniston to the Questelles Beach. Later from 2pm, the streets of South Leeward would be filled with party fans from the Campden Park bridge at “Sweet spot” to Vermont, being ‘dubbed’ the longest street jam for rural CDC’s.
