Layou Carnival culminates this weekend

Residents of Layou and surrounding areas will have their time to shine, when the Layou Sports and Cultural Organization hosts the 2008 beauty pageant, J’Ouvert and jump up this weekend.{{more}}

The area carnival, which got started earlier this month with a wet fete, culminates on Saturday with the Digicel Sponsored street jump up around the town.

Prior to that, this evening, seven contestants will vie for the Miss Layou title at the Layou Hard Court: Amanda Vincent representing Franklyn Village, Denisia Patrick Miss Plan, Dowana Stapleton Miss Plan 2, Kizzy Ann Hendrickson Miss Layou Hill, Lisa Fredricks Miss Texier Road, Rekesha Douglas Miss Step Avenue and Unicia Lynch Miss Ruthland Vale.

The queen show will be followed by the J’Ouvert celebration then the jump up. Local artistes will perform at the events.
