Ragga Soca finals on Sunday

Fifteen of the county’s top soca artistes will be vying for the honour of being crowned the first Carnival Ragga Soca champion.{{more}}

The competition which was previously held during Independence celebrations takes place this Sunday at the Victoria Park.

Independence champion Skarpyon is among the 15 “groovy music” singers which features nine other male artistes and five females.

He will perform his 2008 song ‘Forever’ in the finals.

The other finalists include Zoelah, who will be doing ‘Wine Up On Me’, Full Clip, performing ‘Gimme Gal’, Bomani, with ‘Til Morning Come’, Tabia: ‘Ah feeling it’,

Bam: ‘Burning Up’, Karen Viera: ‘The One For Me’, Dennis Bowman: ‘Dem Bodies’, Dani-O: ‘Gimme Mo’, Squitty: ‘Be Free’, Shaunelle: ‘Don’t Let Me Go’, Galanaire: ‘

Do You’, Shady: ‘One Chance’, KC featuring Icon: ‘With Me Tonight’ and Blakie featuring Skinny Fabulous: ‘No More Long Talk’.

Sunday’s winner will take home EC$8,000, with the second place winner receiving $5,000 and $3,000 for third.

The finalists were selected from a field of 44 entries at a preliminary listening at the Peace Memorial Hall last Friday, June 6th. (JJ)
