Club Iguana painted with colours of Blues

Blues lovers who were not able to make it down to the Grenadine isle of Mustique had the prestigious Mustique Blues Festival brought to them last Friday night.

The party landed at Club Iguana and the performers hit the ground running, as they let loose years of experience on the waiting fans who were present. A few downpours could not dampen the spirits of the audience and entertainers alike.{{more}}

Dubbed the “Real Blues Festival”, the event saw regional and international blues musicians converge on stage. Vincentian Patches Knights who was scheduled to perform was absent from the line up as he had to return to the United States.

The night started with a soulful performance by Dominican Marie Claire, and continued with the likes of Dana Gillespie, Papa George, Steven Simpson, Carl Gustav of St. Lucia, Darby Todd and the London Blues Band.

The most anticipated act of the night, Eugene Hideaway Bridges did not disappoint as he dazzled all with his lyrics and guitar skills, as he brought out emotions from himself as well as patrons before bringing the show to a close.

The group returned to Mustique, where they brought the fest to an end this Wednesday.

Some artistes at Friday night’s event were also a part of the Bequia Blues Fest, which took place two weeks ago. Bequia’s event ran from January 25 to January 28 and was just as exciting as the just concluded Mustique fest.

The event in Bequia saw the likes of the VSOP Dixieland jazz band, Karen Egan, Toby Armstrong, Mystic Vibrations, Jim Coleman and Digicel Rising Star Kyron Baptiste who performed to sold out audiences on each night.
