Brooklyn Vincies for concert in SVG

A group of Vincentian Christians at Fenimore Street United Methodist Church in Brooklyn will stage a grand Gospel Concert on October 14, to aid the Evesham Methodist Church, at the Friends of Crown Heights Educational Centre in Brooklyn.

The newly-formed group, known as the Vincentian Christian Charity Organization, said it jumped into action following an urgent appeal from the sister Methodist Church for help in its rebuilding initiative.{{more}}

“Those of us who have been blessed with the opportunity to live abroad, it’s our spiritual obligation to help those who are less fortunate than us,” said Evelyn Stowe, the group’s chairperson.

“Self-help is instilled in most of us in St Vincent and the Grenadines,” added Stowe, a former police officer at home, who hails from Richland Park, a village in the same Marriaqua Valley as Evesham.

“The spiritual journey we’re on, God has called us to help those less fortunate than us,” she continued. “It’s a God-given responsibility.”

The group, which is impecunious, has asked a number of gospel artistes and other performers to render their talents free of charge for this noble cause.
