Six Disc Jockeys focus on Bahamas

Six Disc Jockeys would try to out do each other in order to gain the right to represent St. Vincent and the Grenadines in the Heineken Caribbean DJ Final. The combatants are Doitte ‘DJ Platsman’ Horne, Dilronee ‘DJ Slick’ DaSilva, Ronald ‘DJ Chico B’ Veira, Ewan ‘DJ Digital’ Martin, Stewart ‘DJ Bardoo’ Chance, and Trevor ‘DJ Jingo’ James.

The DJs emerged from five preliminary rounds staged at Rawacou, Black Point, Wallilabou, Richmond, and Victoria Park.{{more}}

The showdown comes off at the Aquatic Club tomorrow, Saturday 30. The winner earns $1,000, but the greatest incentive is the chance of making US $10,000 in the Bahamas competition carded for October 28.

The competitors would have ten minutes to do their stuff and judging would be based on music selection, cross-over mixing, technique, crowd response, on mike response and maximum set time limit.

St Vincent and the Grenadines won the 2004 Heineken Green Synergy DJ Competition when Ice Kydd eclipsed his rivals. Ice Kydd placed third in last year’s competition.

Local coordinator of the event, Dwight ‘Bing’ Joseph is hoping that St. Vincent and the Grenadines can host next year’s Heineken Green Synergy DJ Competition final.

He thinks it would be a boost for tourism and with increasing prize money, he believes the event can enhance the skills and marketability of the local musical enthusiasts.

“Green Synergy is a celebration of the diversity of music in the Caribbean. Diversity expressed in its theme “Different Beats, One Vibe,” where a blend of different beats are mixed together to provide one fresh music experience,” said Gary Davis, Heineken brand manager. “This year’s final is expected to be very competitive and we are seeking the best D.J. to represent St. Vincent and the Grenadines at the Heineken Green Synergy Finals in the Bahamas in October.”
