Fashion extravaganza at Dream Wedding ’06

The crowd was not as big as was expected but “Dream Weddings 2006” organizer Deb E Barbour is encouraged by what she saw at the Wedding Fair and Fashion show held last Saturday, July 15, at the Cruise Ship Berth.

Fourteen businesses in the local Wedding Industry, from cake makers, florists, wedding planners, hotels to photographers, presented their services at the all-day fair.{{more}} When SEARCHLIGHT visited the fair the general consensus was as stated above; the turnout could have been better, but it was good for a first time event and should grow with time.

“We were very glad that it was able to take place,” stated Barbour, adding that she felt the closeness between the participants in the fair.

An enthusiastic crowd gathered after the fair to witness the 45-minute fashion show that featured designs from Majestic Bridal, Kimya Glasgow and Deb E’ Bridal Designs. Models from the Image Modeling Agency graced the runway and captured the audience’s attention as they portrayed various designs in the different wedding – related categories. Traditional and non-traditional bridesmaids, flower girls and even designs for wedding guests were on show.

There was no doubt, however, that the wedding gowns, some quite unique and “out of the box” wowed the audience which included Culture Minister Rene’ Baptiste and her Health counterpart, Dr. Douglas Slater.
