The loud shouts and applause were clear testimony of the crowd’s approval as Nickiesha Pierre, Miss Campden Park was announced the Miss Vitamalt Plus South Leeward Queen of Carnival 2006. She also walked away with Miss Photogenic and Best Swimwear titles.

The show, which was held last Friday, June 23, and was organized by Penniston Educational Sports and Cultural Organization (PESCO), marked the official opening of the 2006 South Leeward Carnival. The inclement weather did not stop people from coming out to the highly anticipated show which saw the participation of five young ladies.{{more}}

President of PESCO, Michael Johnson in his opening speech reassured all in attendance that they were in for a great show. The young ladies made appearances in swimwear, talent, eveningwear and interview categories. The crowd was dazzled by the high performances of the ladies.

During the intermissions, entertainment was provided by “Snuffy” and “Inferno”, a young Junior Soca Artist. There was also a performance from “Steady-Gan” who really got the crowd going with his performance of the song “Can’t build no stand”.

Nickiesha has now earned the right to represent PESCO at other competitions. First runner-up was Miss SVG Broadcasting Corporation, Miss Penniston, Lindi Billingy, who was also adjudged Miss Congeniality, and won Best Talent and Best Evening Wear.
