Community College Heritage Pageant

The student body of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Community College Heritage Club is hosting a Back-in-time Miss Heritage Pageant this Saturday, May 27, 2006.

The show is designed to help Vincentians reflect on the various cultures that have come together to build what we know and appreciate as St. Vincent and the Grenadines. {{more}}

While all of the various cultural groups are not represented this time, the Club hopes that the effort to execute the pageant will be rewarded with deepening of the understanding that the person regarded as “The Vincentian” has been sufficiently influenced and continues to be influenced by historical forces. It is also hoped that those witnessing the event can gain a stronger sense of value for the Vincentian heritage and dedicate themselves to the preservation of the same during this festive season. All participants are students for the various divisions of the Community College.

The Club hosted the third annual Local History Competition for Secondary Schools this year as its contribution to Heritage Month. The teachers who dedicated their time towards working with the various secondary schools in preparation for the competition were recognized by the Club for their efforts on May 11, 2006. The Club will mark its ninth anniversary in November of this year having been started by Hawkins Nanton in 1997.
