The brief showers and the small fire that broke out under the stage could not take away from the buzz that the 3rd annual Miss SVG Teen Model show created last Saturday 13, at the Arnos Vale Sporting Complex. When the evening was over Miss Intermediate High School, Stacy Boyde was crowned the new Miss SVG Teen model.

The show organized by Angenella Young and her modeling agency Le Andre Modeling Agency featured seven participants competing in three categories. {{more}} And although Boyde did not win any individual awards for either of the categories her overall strong performance won her the crown.

Miss Petit Bordel Secondary, Lisa Hooper, cousin of power soca artiste Fireman Hooper copped the best prom wear award while Miss Barrouallie Secondary Jamie Delpesche was adjudged Best Cheer leader. In the highly anticipated Caribbean Single Market and Economy (CSME) presentation category Shneila May of Georgetown Secondary was the winner.

Commenting to the SEARCHLIGHT about the obvious less than satisfactory performance of the participants in the CSME presentation category, Young told SEARCHLIGHT that she believes that it was the atmosphere of competition rather than inadequate knowledge and preparation that hindered the girls. “The whole competition atmosphere caused the difficulty with the girls,” stated Young.

The expressive and sometimes harsh crowd was treated to several guest performances including the high octane performance by the Dr Luv, “Brave Hearts” dance group who had all eating out of their hands with their swift moving feet. Fireman Hooper and ladies’ favourite Skarpyon also performed.

The show also featured the Le Andre models exhibiting hairstyles done by Lace, Splitting Images and Carlene’s beauty salons.
