With their donation of $75,000 to the Carnival Development Cooperation (CDC), Vice President of Mobile and Marketing at Cable & Wireless, Fitz Huggins believes that Vincy Mas 2006 will be “nothing short of magnificent.”

Speaking on behalf of the telecommunications service provider on Wednesday, May 17, Huggins noted that his team was proud to strategically and creatively help sponsor the cultural festival so that it further develops into an attractive brand.{{more}}

The VP pointed out that the sponsorship from his company included cash, products and service such as high speed Internet connectivity for web streaming.

Praising C&W’s commitment to partnership was Chairman of the CDC Dennis Ambrose who noted that not only were local artistes and culture being exposed but the generosity of C&W as a company that continues to be involved with culture.

Meanwhile, Minister of Culture Rene Baptiste described the contribution made by C&W as serious business. She noted that CDC was not getting money to have a party but was running a corporation that had to answer to financial auditors and was guided by the Act in parliament.

She pointed out that already Grenada was asking to see a copy of the legislation to help guide them in the operation of their festivities, which was another indication of how this country was setting the trend for carnival.

Minister Baptiste also called on all to participate in the festival so that it would be “hyped”, but pleaded with revelers to adhere to the “no bottle policy” by simply using cups instead of glass bottles when refreshing themselves with a beverage.

At the event held at the C&W main office, $3,000 dollars was also donated to the Youlou Pan Movement, who was represented by Melissa Millington.
