Gospel Fest ’06 – Celebration of Gospel

Patrons who attended the finals of the 2006 Digicel Gospel Fest at the Victoria Park on Saturday, April 29 and Sunday 30 seemed to be intoxicated with the Holy Spirit as they jumped and waved for Jesus.

The climax of the monthlong celebration of gospel in song, dance, comedy and sermonette under the theme “Let All the People Praise Thee” was commended by Minister of Culture Rene Baptiste as a showcase of God-given talents. {{more}}

Baptiste, who could be seen dancing and clapping later on at the event, said that her heart was touched to see a concept that was put before her ministry, develop to such a high level and commended the over 1100 participants for their involvement.

She noted that her government was working on building a national auditorium to accommodate large crowds and expressed pleasure that Gospel Fest had become a national event.

The Culture Minister also announced that the festival, which is in its fourth year, will be filmed by a major United States television station for broadcast.

Pledging his commitment to continuously sponsoring Gospel Fest was Digicel’s Manager Martin Bollers who was also spotted with his wife, Sharda Bollers, enjoying the show.

While stellar performances came from the representatives of different churches, the climax of the month’s celebration came with the feature acts on Saturday, Bridget Blucher and Sunday, Nicole Ballosingh.
