Calypsonians clash – New song competition this weekend

Three calypsonians have made history by appearing in both the Soca and Calypso categories of the Carnival Development Committee’s New Song Competition on Saturday, May 6, at the Chamber of Commerce Car Park. {{more}}

The lucky three performers are Glenroy “Sulle” Caesar, Vincent “Groovy D” Kennedy and Dereck “Man Sick” Alexander.

The other finalists in the calypso category are Ronald “Ron B” Browne, Noel “De Foe” Castello and Marlon “Gams” Williams, who will all be coming up against the 2005 champion, Fitzroy “Brother Ebony” Joseph.

The other artistes who will be coming up against the 2005 New Song Soca Monarch, Aretha Shallow, are Aubrey “Ishack-I” Dember, the lone duo Rohan “Mint” Martin and Chaka Hazelwood and lawyer turned singer Lyndon George.

The Carnival Development Committee’s Best New Song Competition will take place at the Chamber of Commerce Car Park, from 5 pm.
