Based on a talent search concept, the competition will be conducted in 12 countries serviced by Caribbean Star including St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

According to the airline’s marketing department, a lead radio station has been identified in each island to promote the competition. Amateur artistes have been invited to submit demonstration recordings in any music genre on CD to the local participating radio station before October 5, 2005.

A recent photograph and contact information should also be included. From these entries, 10 finalists will be chosen to perform before a team of regional judges at a final round to be held in Antigua on Saturday, October 22, 2005. The finals will be staged as an evening seaside concert and will star regional and local Caribbean stars.

The contest winner will receive a professionally produced and recorded single, a music video, two tickets to New York and an appearance on a BET digital network show.

Launching “Caribbean Star Search”, Sandra Scotland-Williams, marketing director of Caribbean Star, said: “We have always recognized the star quality in the people of the Caribbean, whatever their lifestyle or profession.

By promoting a “Caribbean Star Search” talent competition, we are giving aspiring artistes the opportunity to realize their dreams and aspirations in a career of their choice. This is our third Star Search and we hope that our new 2005 Caribbean star will go on to further stardom and do us all proud.”

“Caribbean Star Search” is being promoted on HitzFm here in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
